600 turn out for first Transforming the Heygate exhibition

The next stage of the Elephant and Castle regeneration has begun with more than 600 people turning out for a seven-day public exhibition in July that launched a seven-month consultation process.

Held at the ‘Elephant and Castle Regeneration Hub’, a converted shop unit at 182-184 Walworth Road, the exhibition aimed to share masterplanning principles for the Heygate with the local community.

Lend Lease has appointed community engagement consultants Soundings to manage the consultation process.

Soundings reported that attendees said they loved the location and visibility of the hub, and that visitors found the information clear, and staff accessible and friendly.

Attendees were invited to become more involved through a number of themed liaison groups to discuss aspects of the masterplan in greater detail, and around 50 organisations and individuals have expressed an interest in contributing in this way.

Displays from the exhibition and an online feedback form can be found here.
