Southwark Council recognises that all regeneration proposals cause uncertainty. This is why we have been working with traders for the past three years to identify the best possible working arrangements to assist them during the period of change.
The initial period of public consultation about the Elephant and Castle regeneration plans took place from June to September 2003. the consultation was kicked off by a special breakfast launch for all local businesses held in the Elephant and Castle shopping centre.
There have been over sixteen meetings of the Shopping Centre Liaison Group (SCLG) since September 2003. Three separate exhibitions, lasting several days each, have been held at the shopping centre in 2003, 2004 and June 2005. Shopping centre tenants also receive copies of all newsletters, both by personal delivery of bulk copies and by distribution through pick-up points in the shopping centre.
