Further Housing Schemes Submitted for Planning

16 October 2008

A further five of the 16 schemes which will rehouse many of the Heygate Estate residents has been submitted to the Southwark Planning Authority.

The five schemes, to be developed and managed by London & Quadrant Housing Association, will provide 162 new homes in total with a mix of affordable and private housing. Each scheme also incorporates extensive bicycle storage, public realm improvements, car club spaces and will also link in with the sustainability strategy for the Elephant and Castle.

The five planning applications that have been submitted are for the housing sites known as Brandon Street (08/AP/2440), Library Street (O8/AP/2427), New Kent Road (08/AP/2406), Townsend St (08/AP/2411) and St. Georges Rd /Prospect House (08/AP/2409).

Plans for these schemes can be viewed online here

It is envisaged that all five planning applications will be considered by Southwark’s Planning Committee in December and if consented construction starting early 2009.
